#1 LATEST IN AI TODAY📎
What Happened (Sept 26, 2025):
OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Pulse, a feature that curates overnight briefings for users. It launches first for Pro subscribers at $200/month, with Plus users expected to follow soon.
What You Need to Know:
Pulse generates 5–10 daily cards from Gmail, Calendar, chat history, and feedback.
Cards are personalized and adaptive, learning from thumbs up/down and topic requests.
Each briefing ends with “that’s it for today” to avoid endless scrolling.
Launch is limited to Pro users; Plus subscribers are next in line.
Marketed as one of OpenAI’s “compute-intensive features,” signaling it will anchor premium tiers.
Why It Matters:
If adoption takes off, Pulse could transform how millions start their mornings — shifting attention from newsletters like Morning Brew (6M+ readers) and apps like Apple News to AI-curated briefings. It’s also a strategic move: boosting retention for OpenAI’s $200/mo Pro tier (already up 22% in revenue last quarter) while forcing rivals like Google’s Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude to race toward their own proactive briefing tools.
#2 LATEST IN AI TODAY📎
What Happened (Sept 26, 2025):
xAI has filed a lawsuit in California accusing OpenAI of running a coordinated recruitment drive that lured away eight of its engineers while allegedly copying source code and sensitive trade secrets. The case also names a senior executive said to have knowledge of xAI’s infrastructure “secret sauce.”
What You Need to Know:
The lawsuit claims eight engineers left xAI for OpenAI while transferring code to personal devices, breaching confidentiality.
Among them are Xuechen Li (already sued by xAI last month) and Jimmy Fraiture, both accused of carrying sensitive technical knowledge.
xAI alleges a single recruiter coordinated the campaign, targeting employees with direct access to proprietary systems.
A senior executive with oversight of xAI’s infrastructure allegedly ignored warnings and joined OpenAI despite knowing its trade secrets.
OpenAI denies the claims, dismissing the lawsuit as Musk’s “latest harassment move” and saying it has no interest in xAI’s code.
Why It Matters:
The case underscores how fiercely competitive the AI race has become. Beyond technology, companies are battling over talent and intellectual property — and a legal precedent here could reshape recruitment, tighten IP safeguards, and pressure rivals like Google, Anthropic, and others to rethink aggressive hiring strategies.
