Someone just spent $236,000,000 on a painting. Here’s why it matters for your wallet.
Late last year, a Klimt sold for the highest price ever paid for modern art at auction.
An outlier sure, but it wasn't a fluke. U.S. auction sales grew 23.1% in 2025. The $1-5mm segment even grew 40.8% YoY.
When the S&P 500 finished its worst quarter since 2022 last month, diversifiers like bonds and bitcoin fell too.
Even with the turnaround in mid-April, analysts at Goldman Sachs and Vanguard have projected low-single-digit annualized returns from 2024-2034.
So, what kind of investment is largely indifferent to the forces driving everything else?
Masterworks lets you invest in shares of artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso.
Access to an asset class with historically low correlation and attractive appreciation (‘95-’25).*
Net annualized returns on 28 sold works held 12 months+ like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8%.
$1.3 billion invested across over 500 artworks.

#1 LATEST IN AI TODAY📎
What Happened (Apr 2026):
Google is rolling out Gemini in vehicles with Google built-in, replacing Assistant with a more conversational AI system.
What You Need to Know:
Gemini can handle navigation, messages, music, and car controls — including temperature, radio, and route planning.
It pulls from Maps + vehicle manuals, meaning it can answer car-specific questions like battery status or charging options.
A new Gemini Live mode allows back-and-forth conversations, with deeper integrations (Gmail, Calendar, Home) coming soon.
Why It Matters:
Cars are becoming AI-first interfaces — and Gemini turns them from command-based systems into true conversational copilots.
#2 LATEST IN AI TODAY📎
What Happened (Apr 2026):
OpenAI expanded Codex into everyday work tools while also launching Advanced Account Security for ChatGPT.
What You Need to Know:
Codex can now work directly inside docs, spreadsheets, and slides, instead of just generating code in isolation.
It connects with workplace apps, letting it act across workflows instead of being limited to one task.
The key difference: Codex is evolving from a developer-first agent into a full workplace agent, directly overlapping with Cowork’s core use case.
Why It Matters:
OpenAI is turning Codex into a full work agent, while tightening security as AI becomes more deeply embedded in daily workflows.
