What Happened:
Meta is betting big on robotics with Metabot, a project backed by Mark Zuckerberg and led by ex-Cruise CEO Marc Whitten. Unlike Apple, Google, or Tesla, Meta isn’t chasing hardware. Instead, CTO Andrew Bosworth says the goal is to build robotics software that other companies can license — much like Google did with Android in smartphones.
What You Need to Know:
The first step is developing a “world model” to simulate dexterous hand movements, one of robotics’ toughest challenges.
Meta has explored household robot concepts (like cleaning and folding laundry), but these remain early experiments.
Robotics costs are falling fast — Unitree’s humanoid now costs $16K vs. $500K prototypes just two years ago.
Nvidia’s Jetson and GR00T stack is emerging as the scalable AI backbone for humanoid robots.
Industry pilots are already deploying humanoids in warehouses and automotive supply chains, signaling that adoption is closer than many expected.
Why It Matters:
Meta’s software-first strategy could make it the “Android of robotics,” positioning it as the platform layer for a wave of intelligent machines. If successful, Metabot may allow Meta to dominate robotics without building costly hardware, forcing rivals like Google, Apple, and Tesla to rethink their own strategies.

What Happened (Sept 29, 2025):
Apple is internally testing an app called Veritas to prepare for a major Siri overhaul planned for March 2026. The tool helps Apple’s AI team refine features like photo editing by voice, searching personal data, and performing multi-step actions across apps.
What You Need to Know:
Veritas lets engineers simulate conversations and test Siri’s ability to hold context over multiple turns.
New features include in-app actions (like controlling apps directly) and photo editing by voice commands.
The revamp has been delayed to March 2026, causing reshuffles and some talent departures within Apple’s AI team.
Unlike rivals, Apple isn’t releasing Veritas publicly — these features will be integrated directly into Siri.
Apple’s strategy avoids competing in the crowded chatbot market, focusing instead on a rebuilt, native Siri.
Why It Matters:
Apple is under pressure to prove Siri can compete with ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. If Veritas delivers, Siri could finally become a true AI assistant embedded across 1.5B active iPhones but delays, talent turnover, and high expectations mean Apple has little margin for error.
BRAIN BOOST 🧠
Apple’s Veritas project is now pushed to March 2026, with exec reshuffles and talent exits adding pressure. Can Apple still deliver a next-gen Siri that competes with ChatGPT and Gemini? |
